Mark has served forty-four years in ordained ministry in the United Church of Christ. He was educated at Stanford University, Yale University Divinity School and Eden Theological Seminary and served churches in Illinois, Ohio, Colorado and Oregon and was Conference Minister in United Church of Christ Conferences in Austin, Texas and Seattle, Washington.

He has published three books of pastoral epistles to fellow clergy and church members and has completed four murder/mystery novels. The novels focus upon ministry, fishing, life-experiences and murder, but not always in that order. He's currently working on a fifth novel featuring his primary protagonist, Tricia Gleason, who spends a summer as minister intern in Frisco, Colorado, following her first year in seminary. Her goal is simple: preach and fly-fish her favorite Colorado rivers, both of which are interrupted by the disappearance of a parishioner immediately following her most contentious sermon. She needs to know if one led to the other.
